Counsellor Feedback

Counsellors volunteer with the PF for many different reasons, and everyone gets something different out of working with us.  Some recent comments from counsellors include…

“Through the PF, I feel connected to a network of like-minded professionals. It gives me a place to reflect formally and informally with good colleagues, some of whom have become firm friends. And, in a profession which can be challenging, in which we are frequently involved in exceptional exchanges with our clients, and in which we can easily feel isolated, in my experience the PF is  also a place for good company, community  and “ordinary” conversations.”

Hilary Spenceley

“I have been volunteering at the PF since 2013 and appreciate the engagement with other therapists, the support from the office team contacting clients and organising sessions over the years. It is a great to feel part of a team, without pressure or expectations. I always feel well held and appreciated for what I bring to the PF.”

Sarena Wolfaard

“I very much look forward to the time I spend at the PF during the week.  I’ve always found the environment calm, secure and supportive, something which is as important for the counsellors as it is for the clients we seek to support.  One interesting aspect of the PF is the broad range of experience and theoretical perspectives offered by the counsellors as a group, something which is particularly helpful during the monthly supervision meetings.  The offering of a professional service regardless of the ability to pay is particularly important to me and the PF is also great at offering CPD opportunities in Edinburgh.  On a softer note, I love the year-round fresh flowers: someone has a beautiful garden somewhere!”
